Welcome to Sycamore Class' Page.
Sycamore Class are a year 6 class of 25 children. Their teacher is Miss Warren and their teaching assistants are Mrs Young and Mr Winsor.
We hope you enjoy reading our class page. We will be updating it with work we are doing and things we are enjoying about being in year six.
Go Kart Racing
On Wednesday 17th June, some Year 6 children traveled to Newquay to take part in the regional Greenpower Go Kart races. After an interesting start attempting to fit three Go Karts on the a coach, they had a fantastic day. Unfortunately we didn't win any races but the team and children had great fun! Beechwood Blaze did break down half way through the final lap and Antony had to be rescued by the recovery vehicle - all of this added to the excitement of the day! The children, as always, demonstrated exemplary behaviour and it was great to be able to take so many of them to such a big event. We were awarded with a participation award at the end of the day! See below for the photos and videos from the day!
Well done Year 6!
Currently, in year 6, we are using a new online behaviour reward system - Class Dojo. Children can collect points throughout the day for partner talk, working hard, being prepared, teamwork, persistence, being on task, good presentation, assembly, being presentable, managing distractions and helping others along with other tasks. At the end of the week, the children with the most Dojo points receive a reward.
Children can log in at home to check their progress. Reports will show them which areas they are succeeding in and which areas they need to improve.
They can use the following link to log on
This term our topic is Stargazer. During this topic, we will be focusing on Frank Cottrell Boyce's book Cosmic. This book is about a boy who manages to get himself lost in space. We will be immersing ourselves in all aspects of space including learning about the planets, star constellations and phases of the Moon.
If you would like to do any further research at home, follow these websites
Peasants, Princes and Pestilence
This term our topic is based on the medieval times. The children will be learning about life during the middle ages including the black death, the peasants revolt and the social class system during this time.
If the children would like to do some further research or use the internet to help them with their homework, we recommend the following websites.

We use Renn Reading in year six. When the children have finished a reading book, they can log on to Renn reading using the link below and complete a quiz related to their book. They all have their own individual usernames and passwords. The children can also do this at home!
