For the Spring / Summer Autumn Term, we have so many exciting topics for the children and staff including:
- The Shang Dynasty- the rise and fall.
- Creating willow patterns and statues/sculptures of a nature God or ancestor.
- Creating a board game based on the Shang.
- Researching musical instruments used during the Shang Dynasty followed by the chance to compose their own music to accompany the story of the fall of the Shang.
- Working scientifically, investigating the irrigation process and the impact of angle and depth on crops.
Our PE sessions are on a Friday where the children will need to come into school dressed in school uniform and will get changed in school.
Please use Times table Rockstars 3-5 times a week. It is vital that your child’s times tables knowledge is secure throughout year 4 due to the statutory times tables screening which now takes place in the summer term of year 4. It is a statutory requirement that children are secure up to their 12x tables by the end of year 4.
Our class dojo page is linked to all parents. Children will be earning dojos throughout the day for displaying positive behaviours including the whole school learning behaviours: creativity, independence, reflection, resilience and teamwork. Class dojo is also a communication space between school and home.
Reading is a large focus for the entire school this year. The children are using a scheme called Accelerated Reader which allows them to quiz on their book once they have read it before getting their new one. It is important that children are reading as often as possible at home for them to progress through the reading levels. As their levels ascend, they are being exposed to a wider, richer range of vocabulary which will then be reflected in their writing.
