Autumn Term 2

Topic: What’s beyond our wonderful world.

This term’s topic is based around Earth, moon and stars. Children will link all areas of their curriculum studies to this science based topic. We will be exploring space and researching Lucien Rudeaux and his nebula designs in art. We will be using this learning to create a class website.

Times Tables

Children should be learning their times tables as all children are expected to know each multiplication table (up to 12 x 12) by heart by the time they reach secondary school. We kindly ask that all children practise their times tables regularly at home. This can be done through TTRockstars. All children have their logins and regularly access this in school.

We also ask that all children read regularly. We suggest a minimum of 15 minutes per night. Reading and discussing books each night will help your children to develop the higher order reading skills of comprehension and will help to move their reading forward. Children will then take quizzes using our RENN reading scheme in school and those that achieve 10/10 will receive dojo points as a reward!

Children will engage in PE sessions once weekly. All of these sessions will be outside this term, making use of the covered mugga. Please make sure that children come into school in their PE kits on a Tuesday. As the children will be wearing their PE kits all day, they will need to wear their school jumpers over the top.

Class Dojo

We love earning Dojo Points in class. We can earn points for demonstrating our whole school learning behaviours: creativity, curiosity, independence, reflection, resilience and teamwork. Every time we are 'caught' using these learning behaviours we receive a Dojo point from the teachers. We can collect Dojo points to earn rewards. Our Class Dojo is linked to our parents and we can share our learning directly with them.
REN Reading

This year, Parliament Class are focusing on our reading skills. When the children have completed a book, they can log on to their REN learning area using the link below and complete a quiz about it. The children can also log on a home and complete quizzes. They all have their own user name and passwords. They can show you all of the books they have read and all of the quizzes they have passed.
