Welcome to Nightingale Class
Your teacher is called Mrs Rust, the teaching assistant working in your class is Mrs Vowden and your HLTA is Mrs Curtis who will teach the class every other Friday.
For the Autumn / Spring and Summer Term we have so many exciting topics for the children and staff including:
- Dartmoor and the local environment including a school trip to Dartmoor, writing myths and legends and then listening to and appreciating folk music.
- Living things and their habitats
- Plymouth and the history of the Mayflower and why did it leave. We will also be looking at Tudor Britain and Henry VIII
- The Victorians and painting in the style of LS Lowry
Our PE sessions are on a Monday where the children will need to ensure they have a PE kit in school.
We are also running the daily mile in school.
All learning, whilst you are at home if needed, due to COVID circumstances, can be found on the eschools login on the Beechwood website under our class page. Please message me and let me know what you have been learning. The link below may also be useful.
Please also remember that your child can develop their skills by TTRS at home, Reading Eggs and Spellodrome on the internet. We have found that the sites are fun and an excellent vehicle for learning! Children should also be learning their times tables as all children are expected to know each multiplication table (up to 12 x 12) by heart by the time they reach secondary school.
We love earning Dojo Points in class. We can earn points for demonstrating our whole school learning behaviours: creativity, curiosity, independence, reflection, resilience and teamwork. Every time we are 'caught' using these learning behaviours we receive a Dojo point from the teachers. We can collect Dojo points to earn rewards. Our Class Dojo is linked to our parents and we can share our learning directly with them
This year, Nightingale Class are focusing on our reading skills. When the children have completed a book, they can log on to their REN learning area using the link below and complete a quiz about it. The children can also log on a home and complete quizzes. They all have their own user name and passwords. They can show you all of the books they have read and all of the quizzes they have passed
