Your teacher is called Mrs Townsend. The HLTA that will be working with your class is Mrs DelafieldThe teaching assistants that will be working in your class are Mr Hocking, Miss Day, Mrs Armstrong and Mrs Jutson. 

 

For the Autumn Term 1 we have so many exciting topics for the children and staff including: 

 

  • Our Great Britain in History 

  • Animals’ needs for survival in Science 

  • The National Anthem and Rule Britannia in Music 

 

For the Autumn Term 2 we have so much exciting topics for the children and staff including: 

 

  • British Bridges in DT 

  • Materials and their properties in Science 

  • Paint programme to draw bridges in Computing 

 

PE   

 

Physical activity sessions will be held weekly on a Tuesday and WednesdayThe children will be taught a range of skills that will continue to develop what they already have been taught.   

 

Home Learning  

 

Please also remember that your child can develop their skills by accessing TTRS, Numbots and their weekly spellings at home.  Children should also be learning their times tables as all children are expected to know each multiplication table (up to 12 x 12) by heart by the time they reach secondary school.  They also have the mandatory multiplication check in Year 4.

Read, Write, Inc 

 

Phonics is taught through the Read, Write Inc model which is a rigorous approach to the teaching of reading and comprehension in line with the National Curriculum. Mrs Rama- Dominguez is our Read Write Inc manager at Beechwood. She attends training and co-ordinates the implementation, monitoring and assessment of the Read Write Inc (RWI) programme in school. There are many helpful resources and information for parents regarding RWI on the Ruth Miskin website.

REN Reading 
 

This year, we are focusing on our reading skills. When the children have completed a book, they can log on to their REN learning area using the link below and complete a quiz about it. The children can also log on a home and complete quizzes. They all have their own user name and passwords. They can show you all of the books they have read and all of the quizzes they have passed.
